he cool, foggy Russian River Valley climate allows for slow ripening, ideal for Chardonnay to develop full flavour maturation. The fruit was predominantly from three sites in the heart of the valley including the Boriolo and BCD vineyards, as well as the Norris vineyard in the Chalk Hill region. The Boriolo Vineyard is located on sandy and clay loam soils which produces fruit that is higher in acidity with more minerality and fresh fruit flavors.The BCD vineyard is next to the DeLoach Estate on a very gentle south-facing slope and is planted on heavy clay soils that decrease the vigor of the vines. The Norris Vineyard is located in the Chalk Hill sub-appellation of the Russian River Valley and is planted with two clones of Chardonnay – 809 and 17. Clone 809 provides floral and other high-tone aromatics while Clone 17 lends richer, riper fruit flavours.
