CASE OF 6 BOTTLES
The Baron de Badassière wines come from Picpoul de Pinet, an appellation near the coast in the Languedoc. Its name derives from the Badassière vineyard, situated near the small town of Pomérol, which in the 18th century belonged to Baron Charles Emmanuel, a colourful character rumoured to be the illegitimate son of King Louis XV.
The Carignan grapes for this wine are sourced from vineyards located on low-lying hills within the Bassin de Thau, a string of lagoons that moderate the climate in surrounding areas. The vines are planted on clay and limestone soils. With little rain during the summer months, gentle breezes from both the lagoons and the Mediterranean Sea help to reduce evaporation rates in the vineyard and consequently lower vine stress.
This lighter expression of Carignan displays a nose of fresh crushed cherries. The palate is fruit-forward and crisp, the acidity carries through the juicy finish.
